The National General Assembly of Local Government (NGA) is the largest annual gathering of local government leaders in Australia. Since 1994, council leaders have converged in Canberra for the NGA to advocate for better federal funding, policy reforms and effective partnerships. The national event regularly attracts more than 1000 delegates from around Australia and overseas, and provides an exciting opportunity for mayors, shire presidents and councillors to come together, network and consider the big issues for communities. We are now calling for councils to submit motions for the 2026 National General Assembly.  

The 2025 National Local Roads, Transport and Infrastructure Congress was held on 11-12 November in Bendigo, in regional Victoria. The National Local Roads, Transport & Infrastructure Congress is an annual local government event featuring experts and guest speakers covering a comprehensive program focused on roads, transport, mobility, road safety and community infrastructure. The 2025 Congress focused on Driving National Productivity, with a strong emphasis on local roads funding, maintenance, and infrastructure and the vital role councils play in supporting the national productivity agenda.
